Spinal Decompression
Spinal Decompression is an exciting new way to bring relief for low back and neck pain sufferers. It is used for problems involving not only the discs, but also the soft tissues which stabilize the spine. These conditions include herniated or bulging discs, degenerative disc disease, posterior facet syndrome, sciatica, pinched nerves, and general neck and low back pain.
The treatments are safe and painless. They are also pleasant and relaxing. We simply have the patient lie on the Decompression Table, secured by comfortable straps. The table then provides intermittent distraction pressure, which is controlled by a computer.
In disc bulging or herniation, this distraction gently pulls the spine apart, elongating it and creating a small vacuum between the vertebrae. In turn, this pulls on the damaged disc, drawing it back into shape. The distraction pressure, repeated over a series of treatments, restores nutrition and hydration to the disc. The disc gradually heals and reshapes itself. The resulting disc regeneration can be confirmed by x-ray studies after the treatments are complete.
The same distraction pressure can be used to release soft tissue restrictions. Longstanding tightness of the neck and low back often respond to this approach. It can be very useful in chronic back and neck pain, as well as the headaches, arm and leg symptoms which can come from tight muscles along the spine.
Safe, gentle, and effective, spinal decompression is a great alternative to surgery and prescription pain management approaches.
